Alessandra Piermattei, specialized in human rights and social protection, has been holding the Dakar office of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation since 1 August 2017.

Graduated in Law and with a Masters in International Cooperation, she joined the Public Administration in 1998 as Deputy Commissioner of the State Police, serving until December 2001 in the Ragusa and Milan Police Headquarters, with purely investigative assignments.

Subsequently transferred to the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, she worked as head of the National Library Service Unit for about four years.

Definitely clarified the passion for cooperation, after having carried out a two-month internship at the UNICEF headquarters in Bamako in Mali, she asks and gets to be employed in the Directorate General for Development Cooperation (DGCS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where he will lend service from 2005 to 2015 participating in the implementation of initiatives in the field of human development, with particular reference to children's rights and juvenile justice.

In 2016 she joined the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, in service at the IV Office "Human Development" where he continues to work on initiatives to protect children's rights.

During the period spent at the DGCS and AICS Rome she carried out numerous missions in partner countries including Afghanistan, Mozambique, Kenya, Bosnia and Herzegovina, El Salvador, Guatemala, Morocco, Egypt and Albania.
